AquaponicsHome is an educational hobby website about small-scale aquaponics. The content here comes from running small home systems. It is general information, not professional advice. Please read the sections below before acting on anything you read on this site.

Not veterinary or animal-health advice

Guides on this site may describe how water quality problems were diagnosed and fixed on hobby systems. They are not veterinary advice. If your fish are sick, behaving abnormally, or dying and basic water-quality checks don’t explain it, consult a qualified aquatic veterinarian or your local fisheries authority. Do not medicate fish based on a blog post, this one or any other.

Food safety

Some guides cover growing edible plants and keeping edible fish species at home. Home-grown does not automatically mean safe to eat. Follow the food-safety guidance of recognized authorities, such as the WHO, the FAO, and your national or local food safety authority. This covers handling, washing, and preparing anything you grow or harvest, especially anything grown in water shared with live animals. If you are unsure whether something is safe to eat, don’t eat it.

Structural, electrical, and water safety

  • Weight: water is heavy. Balconies and rooftops have load limits. Before placing any system on a balcony or roof, confirm the load capacity with your landlord, building management, or a qualified engineer.
  • Electricity + water is a dangerous combination. Use properly rated equipment and, where in doubt, consult a qualified electrician. Follow local electrical codes.
  • Flooding and leaks can damage your home and your neighbors’. You are responsible for your own setup.

No guaranteed results

Every system, climate, and water supply is different. What worked on the setups described here may not work the same way for you. Nothing on this site is a promise of plant yields, fish survival, cost savings, or any other outcome.
